Life of Luxury.

I knew from being in the elevator that this building was something different. Even from just standing outside I knew it was going to be beautiful. When you get down to Tribeca you just kind of assume that if it's a giant unassuming building it will be hiding some incredible apartments within. But when the elevator opened up into the apartment (yes, its one of those buildings) I couldn't really believe what I was seeing. This is one of the most gorgeous apartments I have ever seen and it prompted so many ideas in my head about what it means to live comfortably.

For everyone that question has a completely different answer. Some people are fine with the most minimal amount of belongings as long as they have someplace warm to sleep while others want lives of luxury and spend until they are out of breath. How is it that some people are fortunate enough to have homes, especially ones of this scale, while outside of these buildings there are men and women tucked in corners of the street? Not to get overly preachy here but it just kind of dumbfounds me. I understand that most people that are able to afford a beautiful apartment like this have worked harder than any of us to get there but how much of that hard work is aided by fate and just pure luck? Is your whole life planned out for you from birth? Or is there something that people can really do to climb their way to the upper tiers of society? While I know that the answer is yes people can alter their lives and succeed due to perserverance, sometimes I just believe that people are products of fortunate or unfortunate events that are out of their control.

It all comes back to that age old saying that "money can't buy happiness" but I know plenty of people that would contest that statement. Of course those people are usually those looking into the lives of the rich and famous. While I do agree that money can't buy happiness I am a believer in the idea that it can provide opportunities to contribute to happiness. For instance the child of the people who own this loft has been born into wealth. Will he ever know anything different? While I am not going to attempt to answer any of my cliched questions of the day I know that I have seen my dream apartment. One that I can hope to one day be able to afford.....or have a husband that can buy it for me! Only snuck one picture of the place...which doesn't even begin to do it justice.

I don't think that most ppl who have apartments like that do work harder than other people. Some probably do, others just have professions that are more highly rewarded in our society.
Does a top athlete work harder than a top dancer, I'd guess not, but they are certainly paid much better.

There is also something to be said for luck.

btw, i found your blog through thewinger. I've been enjoying it, thanks!

I'm a burlesque performer in NYC and took ballet when I was younger.
